A Day of Play at Black Earth Children’s Museum

This post is sponsored by Black Earth Children’s Museum. We had such a great time on our visit, and I’m excited to share all the details with you.

We recently got to spend another day at the Black Earth Children’s Museum and I’m so glad we did! This was our second visit, and my toddler and I had just as much fun as last year. It’s so thoughtfully designed that kids of all ages can enjoy the exhibits.

Hands-On Fun for Every Age

Exhibits at the Black Earth Children's Museum

The museum has 50+ handmade exhibits all on one floor, making it easy to explore without feeling overwhelming. Every area has its own theme: a farmer’s market and kitchen, a veterinary clinic, a space zone, a cave, a wigwam with a pretend fire, and even a special room just for infants. There’s also a super fun climbing structure that ends with a slide (which, of course, my toddler loved).

Creative Spaces

The art room is another favorite, offering both planned projects and open-ended “free play” stations. Members also get access to a toy library stocked with clean, well-kept toys, games, and puzzles to borrow and enjoy at home. It’s such a cool perk.

Party Packages Worth Checking Out

If you’re looking for a spot to celebrate something special, their private party packages are amazing. It’s $300 for up to 150 guests, with private museum access, a party room, tableware, and set-up/clean-up included. You can even bring your own food, drinks, and decorations. This would be such a fun place for a kids’ birthday or family get-together.

New Shared Office Space for Parents

The Black Earth Children’s Museum now offers a shared office space designed with busy parents in mind! Whether you need to catch up on work, check emails, or complete online tasks, this private space lets you stay productive while your kids enjoy the museum. Parents can use the space before, after, or even during their visit making it a convenient option for families on the go.

This work space is offered free to parents with a museum membership.

Why We Love the Black Earth Children’s Museum

What I love most is that it’s big enough to keep kids busy for hours, but small enough to feel safe and manageable. It just feels different than anything else we go to around home and it makes it a special visit.

It’s an easy drive from Sauk County and you can bring your own snacks to enjoy in a designated area. It’s creative, welcoming, and such a fun spot for both kids and parents.
