Best Non-Touristy Things to do in Wisconsin Dells
Many people know Wisconsin Dells as the “Waterpark Capital of the World,” filled with busy attractions, big crowds, and long lines. Locals might even call it a tourist trap. But if you take a closer look, there are plenty of fun things to do that aren’t so crowded or touristy. Whether you’re visiting or live nearby, these spots offer a more laid-back way to enjoy the area.

Mirror Lake State Park – Get Out in Nature
Just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of the Dells, you’ll find Mirror Lake State Park. It’s the perfect spot if you want to unwind and enjoy nature. You can kayak, canoe, or paddleboard on the calm waters of the lake, or hike through peaceful wooded trails.

Sure, there are plenty of tourist shops on Broadway, but if you take the time to explore a little deeper, you’ll find some real gems. Check out local coffee shops like Bella Goose for a delicious drink or homemade waffle and pop into Swiss Maid Fudge for a sweet treat made right in front of you.
There are also some beautiful murals scattered around town that make for great photo ops.
Spend some time walking along the riverfront, where it’s a little more peaceful and less crowded.
Kilbourn Public Library
If you’re looking for a low-key way to spend an afternoon (especially if the weather isn’t cooperating), the Wisconsin Dells public library is a great option. How much more non-touristy can you get than a library?!
