Why We Loved Staying at Casacampo Near Wisconsin Dells

Portions of our Wisconsin Dells staycation, including our overnight stay at Casacampo and visits to several local attractions and restaurants, were hosted for review. As always, all opinions are my own, and I only share experiences I would genuinely recommend to my own family and friends.

If you’re looking for a unique place to stay near Wisconsin Dells, I have one to add to your list!

Our family recently spent the night at Casacampo, and it completely exceeded my expectations. We had previously visited for one of their ranch tours, but this was our first overnight stay. By the time we left the next morning, we were already talking about coming back.

Whether you’re planning a Wisconsin Dells vacation, looking for a fun family staycation, or just want something different than a traditional hotel, I definitely recommend adding Casacampo to your list.

A Peaceful Escape Just Minutes from Wisconsin Dells

One of my favorite things about Casacampo is that it’s only a few minutes from downtown Wisconsin Dells, but it feels like a completely different world.

We arrived around 7 p.m. on a Monday evening, and everything was so peaceful. The property was quiet, there weren’t crowds of people around, and it immediately felt relaxing. We wandered around a bit, checked out our bunkhouse, and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere before heading to nearby Elm Street Plaza for live music.

If you’re looking for somewhere to slow down after a busy day exploring the Dells, this is it.

Staying in Bunkhouse #2

Bunkhouse 2 at Casacampo

We stayed in Bunkhouse #2, and it was just so cute.

It felt updated, clean, and cozy, and you could tell a lot of thought had gone into the little details. It was the kind of place you could easily picture yourself spending a few relaxing days.

Inside you’ll find two bedrooms, a comfortable living area, and a kitchenette with some complimentary items. I loved flipping through the vintage Wisconsin Dells postcards and discovering a Bella Grace Book of Lists magazine sitting on the table (I loved it so much that I ordered two for myself after we got home!).

My three-year-old immediately looked around and said, “This is a cool place!” which pretty much summed up how we all felt.

Every overnight stay includes a private ranch tour the following morning, and honestly, I think this alone makes staying at Casacampo worth it.

Behind the Scenes Tour

Private Tour at Casacampo

Our tour was led by one of the owners, who shared stories about the animals, their personalities, where they came from, and little fun facts along the way.

Each guest received a large bowl of corn to feed the alpacas and llamas, and yes…they come right up to you! They were so friendly, fluffy, and full of personality. We even got to meet baby alpacas.

My favorite part was watching my son experience it all. He absolutely loved feeding the animals and couldn’t stop smiling. When we were driving home, I asked him what his favorite part of our stay was and he immediately said, “The tour!”. Honestly…same.

Slow Summer Mornings

The next morning, we ran to Bella Goose Coffee when they opened. It’s only a couple minutes from Casacampo, so we grabbed our coffee and headed right back.

We spent the morning sitting outside drinking coffee, blowing bubbles, listening to the birds, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings while we waited for the ranch tour to begin.

It reminded me that vacations don’t always have to be packed with activities. Sometimes those slower moments end up being the ones you remember most.

More Than Just an Overnight Stay

Even if you’re not staying overnight, Casacampo is worth adding to your Wisconsin Dells itinerary.

Their gift shop is adorable and filled with clothing, locally made wines, children’s books, soaps, gifts, and other unique finds. They also have Wisconsin’s only Pisco & Wine Lounge, making it a fun stop for adults looking to relax.

If you’re visiting for the day, Ranch Passes are another great option. They allow guests to walk among the alpacas and llamas, feed the animals, and enjoy the beautiful property without booking an overnight stay.

Our 24-Hour Wisconsin Dells Staycation

Wisconsin Dells Vacation

Our overnight at Casacampo was part of a fun family staycation in Wisconsin Dells.

Before checking in, we:

That evening we headed to Elm Street Plaza for free live music before returning to Casacampo for a peaceful night’s sleep.

The next morning we grabbed Bella Goose Coffee before our ranch tour and even made it to storytime at the library afterward.

Everything was incredibly close, making it easy to fit a lot into just 24 hours without feeling rushed.

Who I Think Would Love Casacampo

While we stayed as a family, Casacampo would also be a perfect fit for:

  • Girls’ trips
  • Anniversary getaways
  • Extended family trips (rent the whole house!)
  • Small team retreats
  • Anyone wanting a slower-paced Wisconsin Dells experience

We’ve stayed at quite a few places over the years, and Casacampo is one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

It’s peaceful without feeling isolated, close enough to enjoy everything Wisconsin Dells has to offer, and unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed in the area.

If you’re looking for something a little different than the typical hotel experience, I think you’ll love it as much as we did.
