Camp Gray

Sauk County Historical Society

An exciting and expanded summer kids’ camp is coming to the Sauk County Historical
Society for students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades!
Two weeks of exciting sessions are being planned to explore local history and prehistory during the first two weeks of August. Both weeks of camp will culminate with a graduation ceremony at a free ice cream social at the Van Orden Mansion on the evening of August 12.
Time travelers will engage in local history through hands-on projects, mini field trips, behind-the-scenes tours and engaging lessons. By using maps, historic photos, documents, and artifacts, participants will solve history mysteries and learn about the people, events, and forces that shaped the local community.
This year’s Time Travelers Kids’ Camp is being supported by a grant from a donor
advised fund at the Community Foundation of South Central Wisconsin. This generous
support helps keep the history camp affordable and helps to purchase supplies.

About our sponsors:
Prairie Raised Beef
At Prairie Raised Beef, our family farm in Sauk Prairie, Wisconsin, is dedicated to raising high-quality, nutrient-dense beef while helping children connect with the land that feeds them. Through hands-on experiences like Farm Camp and Little Farmers Day on the Farm, kids can explore farm life up close—meeting animals, learning where their food comes from, and experiencing agriculture in a fun, meaningful way.
Our mission is to help the next generation develop a deeper appreciation for farming, food, and the outdoors. We invite your family to come experience farm life with us and create lasting memories on the farm.
LIVEfor TimberNook
LIVEfor is a local nonprofit focused on empowering kids through movement, outdoor play, and confidence-building experiences. Their TimberNook summer camps give children time to explore, create, and take healthy risks in nature while developing physical, mental, and social well-being.
Led by licensed providers with extensive pediatric therapy experience, these camps help kids build independence, problem-solving skills, and confidence through meaningful outdoor play.
Camp Gray
In the summer, we welcome more than 1500 campers for various programs tailored to particular age groups ranging from 2nd-12th grade. Our week-long summer sessions are packed with fun and laughter as they provide kids the unique opportunity to experience the beauty of God’s creation and the joy of the Catholic faith.
